Instructions
For Using A Nasal Corticosteroid Spray
1. Gently
blow your nose to clear your nostrils.
TIP - Try
using one spray of over-the-counter nasal saline in each nostril prior to
blowing your nose and using the corticosteroid. You can use additional doses of
nasal saline throughout the day for nasal dryness and stuffiness.
2. Open the
inhaler and shake thoroughly.
3. Place
your thumb on the bottom of the unit and place your fingers on top. Press
straight down to delivery a spray. When using the inhaler for the first time,
spray into the air several times to "prime" the unit.
4. Tilt your
head forward slightly and insert the inhaler into one nostril.
Aim the tip
of the applicator at the outside nostril wall or toward the outer corner of
your eye.
5. Close the
other nostril with a finger.
6. Press
down on the container to release one spray. At the same time, inhale gently.
7. Repeat
steps 3 through 6 in the other nostril as the bottle prescribed by your doctor.
For best results, shake the canister between sprays. Avoid blowing your nose
for 15 minutes.
8. Before
storing, wipe nasal applicator with a
clean tissue and close the unit.
TIP -
Shaking your canister will NOT give you a good estimate of how much medication
is left. To ensure that you have medication remaining, keep track of the number
of sprays used. This will help assure that you receive the "Full
Sprays" of inhaler.
